Description of Facility Components

Section 1:  Emergency and Urgent Care Services addresses the space requirements of a traditional hospital-based emergency department or emergency/trauma center. This section also addresses adjacent or contiguous space for a nonurgent care or a fast-track component as well as space for an optional observation unit. This section can also be used to plan space for adjacent or freestanding facilities for primary care and occupational health or for a freestanding urgent care facility. The space planning template is organized as follows:
